Is GOKURI a medical device?

The business support application (including cloud services) and the GOKURI neckband (NB4HC) are not medical devices. We offer the GOKURI wearable electronic stethoscope as a medical device approved only in Japan.

Can anyone wear it?

Yes, it can generally be worn by anyone. However, since it comes into contact with the neck, it should not be used if you feel discomfort due to injuries, allergies, or similar conditions. There are no specific restrictions for use with pacemakers. Currently, the device is available in one size, but if it does not fit properly, you can adjust the microphone's position slightly away from the throat to capture sound effectively.

Can individuals purchase a set of GOKURI  as well?

Yes, individuals can purchase the GOKURI. However, it is primarily designed for use in collaboration with healthcare professionals and caregiving supporters to help individuals maintain and improve swallowing and feeding functions.

Worried about a potential leak of personal information?

The recorded swallowing sounds and other data are uploaded to a secure cloud as anonymized information. GOKURI’s development platform utilizes the highly reliable Microsoft Azure.

Can the neckband be worn continuously during sleep?

The GOKURI neckband operates for approximately 2 hours on a full charge, making it unsuitable for extended measurements beyond this duration. Additionally, friction sounds from sheets or pillows may be recorded as noise. With these considerations in mind, it is possible to conduct measurements during sleep for shorter periods.

Can pharyngeal residue or silent aspiration be detected?

If sounds are produced, they can be recorded as waveforms or audio data. However, biological events that do not produce sounds cannot be recorded or identified.

Does the GOKURI have an alert function to notify people around when aspiration or choking occurs?

The GOKURI service is designed to estimate and monitor eating-related functions through regular screenings, providing recommendations on appropriate food types and consumption methods. It collaborates with healthcare professionals and caregivers to help patients maintain and manage eating functions, aiming to identify aspiration risks and prevent choking during meals. However, it does not detect aspiration or choking in real-time. As part of its monitoring feature, if a 30-second period of silence occurs during measurement, an LED indicator lights up red to signal a potential risk during eating.

What is the compensation policy in case of failure?

For failures covered under the terms of use, excluding intentional damage, the neckband will be replaced free of charge within one year of purchase. Additionally, applications and cloud updates are provided free of charge during the usage period.

Do you sell the GOKURI in other countries?

Overseas sales may be possible, depending on the specific conditions in each country.
